Louis' doctor thought he might be ready for solids, to help him keep up his iron levels (preemies don't get all the iron they need from mom in the last trimester.) So, we had sweet potatoes for dinner last night and saved some for Big Louie. I can't say he was very impressed-he still has the tongue thrust reflex so he would probably push just about anything out. We'll try again next month! For those of you gourmands, here's one for you recipe box:

Sweet Potato /Breast Milk Puree

2 Tbsp. Sweet Potato, steamed
1 Tbsp. Breast Milk

Puree sweet potato until consistency of paste. Mix in milk just before serving to desired consistency. Place bib on baby and large sheet on floor. Stand back... Posted by Picasa
